Pen 2 Paper
There are presently no open calls for submissions.
The Coalition of Texans with Disabilities (CTD)'s annual Pen 2 Paper Creative Writing Competition seeks pieces of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and comics that treat the topic of disability. Whether or not you have experience as a creative writer; whether or not you have a disability, we want to hear your voice!
Update: we were planning to announce finalists the first week of October, but, due to the number of entries, we've had to push that date back a bit. We now plan to announce finalists by Wednesday, October 10, and will post updates here, should that date change.
The deadline for 2018 submissions was Tuesday September 4, 2018.
P2P's goals are to
- give writers with disabilities a forum where they can share their work.
- bring awareness to disability issues through the arts.
- challenge people of all ages to think, rethink, and express their stories, perspectives, fears, and discoveries about disability.
P2P is the ONLY disability-focused creative writing competition in Texas (correct us if we're wrong!). And while P2P is based in Texas, we welcome entries from other states and countries.
Each year, entries are evaluated by a panel of volunteer judges, and prizes are awarded to the top entries in each category. Winners and finalists will be posted on P2P's website.
Local and state sponsors and volunteers help make the competition possible by contributing their time, expertise, products, services, and energy.
Pen 2 Paper is a project of the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities, Texas’ oldest and largest cross-disability advocacy organization. CTD is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with Federal Tax ID #74-2071160.
